About the Faculty of Education
Originally Jordanhill College (the first centre in Europe to train teachers), the Faculty has a long and proud history in the field of teacher education. More students train at the Faculty to be teachers than anywhere else in Scotland. The Faculty has links for teaching, research and consultancy with a wide range of institutions throughout the world.
The Faculty also trains professionals in counselling; in the arts; and in sport and outdoor education.
The Faculty offers opportunities for postgraduate study and research and a wide range of courses for further professional development for qualified teachers and other professionals.
Its Jordanhill campus houses the largest education research library in Scotland. There are two student residences on campus. Other facilities include a bank, two shops, a refectory, coffee shops and a student club.
The Jordanhill Campus is situated only five miles from Glasgow city centre and there is a regular free bus service from Jordanhill to the centre of the city.
