UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS I) 2026

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2026 for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA Chennai) for both men and women.

Academy-Wise Openings:

Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun: 100 Seats (158th Course)
Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala: 32 Seats (Executive General Service)
Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad: 32 Seats (Flying Branch)
Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai (SSC Men & Women): 275+ Seats

Eligibility & Educational Qualifications:

IMA & OTA: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent in any discipline.
INA: Degree in Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized University/Institution.
AFA: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Age Limits: 19 to 24 years (Unmarried male/female candidates depending on the specific academy).

Selection Process:

1. Written Examination (English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics for IMA/INA/AFA; English and GK for OTA).
2. SSB Interview (5-day intelligence and personality evaluation including psychological tests, group obstacle tasks, and personal interview).
3. Comprehensive Medical Examination by Armed Forces Medical Services.
