UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) Recruitment 2026
The Indian Forest Service is one of the three prestigious All India Services (along with IAS and IPS). Candidates are recruited through the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination followed by the dedicated Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination and Personality Test.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or in Engineering of any recognized University.
Selection Scheme:
- Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination for screening to Main Examination.
- Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination: 6 Written descriptive papers (General English, General Knowledge, and Two Optional Subjects).
- Interview / Personality Test (300 Marks) and compulsory walking test (25 km for males, 14 km for females in 4 hours).
